Why Do I Need to Pay for My Prescription?
Why Do I Need to Pay for My Prescription?
All prescriptions issued through SignatureRx are private prescriptions, which means they are not subsidised by the NHS.
When you collect your medication, the pharmacy will charge you:
- The cost of the medication, and a dispensing fee
In some cases, this may be lower than the standard NHS charge, and in other cases it may be higher, depending on the medication.
- NHS Exemptions Do Not Apply
Because these prescriptions are private:
- NHS exemptions cannot be used
- Pre-payment certificates (PPCs) are not valid
This applies to all pharmacies dispensing SignatureRx prescriptions.
- Using Private Insurance
Some private insurance plans may cover the cost of your medication.
If your policy allows this, you can usually claim reimbursement. You may need a receipt showing:
- Medication issued
- Price paid
- Date of issue
- Pharmacy details
We recommend checking with your insurance provider before making payment to confirm what is covered.
No Additional Charges from SignatureRx
SignatureRx:
- Does not charge pharmacies for dispensing
- Does not add commission or extra fees
You only pay the pharmacy for:
- Your medication, and
- The dispensing fee
