How to Dispense a Prescription
SignatureRx allows doctors to issue secure private electronic prescriptions that follow The Human Medicine Regulation 2012. As a pharmacy, you can dispense these prescriptions through our dedicated Dispense Prescription page.
Step 1: Enter the Prescription Details
To begin, enter the Prescription ID and the patient’s date of birth (DOB).
You’ll only be able to view the prescription if both details are correct.
If you’re dispensing from a Boots store, make sure to select “Boots” from the Pharmacy Group dropdown before continuing.
Step 2: Review the Prescription Page
Once you click Search, and the details match, you’ll see the e-prescription on the dispensing page.
Before moving on, check the “Available for dispensing” status. This confirms that the prescription is valid and safe to dispense.
Do Not Dispense If You See These Statuses
If the prescription shows any of the following, do not dispense it:
- Voided
- Expired
- Already dispensed
These statuses indicate that the prescription is no longer eligible for dispensing.
Step 3: Confirm Stock and Price
Before dispensing, confirm the availability of stock and final pricing with the patient. This ensures transparency and avoids delays.
Step 4: Download the Dispensing Token (Optional)
You can download a PDF copy of the dispensing token for your records.
Just click the PDF icon displayed on the page to save or print it.
Step 5: Mark the Prescription as Dispensed
Once the patient has paid, click the Dispense button.
A pop-up will appear asking for a few details about your pharmacy.
After you mark the prescription as dispensed:
- The patient cannot collect the medication from another pharmacy.
- The prescription is considered complete in the system.
Additional Guidance
A one-page user guide is included for your reference.
If you are a Boots store, please follow the specific dispensing instructions provided by the Boots Hub Team.
