What are my issuance options for a prescription?
SignatureRx supports four issuance methods. Each has a use case; choose what suits your workflow:
Method | What Happens | Ideal Use Case |
Issue for Collection | Patient receives email with collection instructions; can optionally request delivery | Use when patient wants the flexibility of going to any pharmacy to collect their medication |
Issue for Delivery | Signature Pharmacy fulfill the dispensing and the patient gets their medication delivered | For home delivery to patient via Signature Pharmacy |
Issue to Contact | Send prescription directly to a registered pharmacy contact | When you know the dispensing pharmacy you would like the prescription sent to |
Issue to Email | Prescription is emailed to the patient directly | For convenience, if the patient handles dispensing themselves |
What happens when I issue an FP10 prescription for collection?
When a prescription is Issued for collection, the patient receives an email including:
The Prescription ID
Clinic details
Step-by-step instructions for collection
Prescribers may also choose to send the Prescription ID via SMS for added convenience.
What happens when I issue an FP10 prescription to a contact?
When you issue a prescription to a contact, you’re sending it directly to a pre-set pharmacy. Before you can do this, you’ll need to add the pharmacy’s email address to your contact list. This can be done by selecting, Contacts and ‘Add New Contact’
Once added, you can simply select the pharmacy you would like to send the prescription to from the dropdown menu when issuing the prescription to contact.
After the prescription is issued, the pharmacy will receive an email notification containing:
The patient’s name and date of birth
The Prescription ID
A link to access and dispense the prescription
Instructions to mark it as dispensed once fulfilled
Your clinic and prescriber contact details
Selecting Dispense prescription, will take the pharmacy to the SignatureRx portal where they will be able to retrieve and access the electronically signed prescription and subsequently dispense. They can then mark the prescription as dispensed.
What happens when I issue an FP10 prescription to an email?
Issuing a prescription to email follows the same steps as issuing to a contact (see above), except the prescription is sent directly to the patient’s email address rather than to a pharmacy.
This option is ideal when you’d like the patient to choose their own pharmacy or manage the dispensing themselves. The email includes their Prescription ID, dispensing link, and full instructions for use.
