Switching Between Clinic Pay and Patient Pay

This guide explains how to switch between Clinic Pay and Patient Pay in SignatureRx, and what to check before issuing a prescription.


When creating a prescription, prescribers can choose between two payment models:

  • Patient Pay – the patient pays via a payment link
  • Clinic Pay – the clinic is invoiced (delivery via Signature Pharmacy)

The payment type must be selected before issuing the prescription.


How to Switch Between Payment Types?

Before Issuing the Prescription

You can switch payment type during prescription creation:

  • Select Patient Pay if the patient will pay
  • Select Clinic Pay or tick “Invoice Clinic” (for delivery) if the clinic will pay

For Delivery Prescriptions

  • To use Clinic Pay, ensure:
    • Issued for Delivery is selected
    • “Invoice Clinic” is ticked


Can I Change the Payment Type After Issuing?

Partially — it would depend on the status of the prescription

  • The payment type cannot be changed directly within SignatureRx once the prescription has been issued
  • However, you can contact Signature Pharmacy to request a change

A payment type change may be possible if the prescription has not yet been processed

Once the prescription has been processed or dispensed, the payment type can no longer be changed



Best Practice

Before issuing a prescription, always confirm:

  • Who will pay (clinic or patient)
  • Whether the prescription is for delivery
  • If your clinic is approved for Clinic Pay
